1.1 Background of the Study
Girl-child education is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone of sustainable development. However, cultural, economic, and social barriers continue to hinder girls' access to education in many parts of Nigeria, including Dukku Local Government Area, Gombe State. Films have become powerful advocacy tools, highlighting the importance of girl-child education and challenging societal norms that perpetuate gender disparity (Bello & Ahmed, 2023). Through compelling narratives, films shed light on the transformative potential of educating girls, addressing issues such as early marriage and gender inequality (Ibrahim & Musa, 2024). This study evaluates the effectiveness of films in raising awareness and fostering positive attitudes toward girl-child education in Dukku.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite efforts to promote girl-child education, enrollment and retention rates for girls in Dukku remain low. Cultural beliefs, poverty, and inadequate awareness contribute to this challenge. While films have the potential to address these barriers, their impact on promoting girl-child education in Dukku has not been adequately studied (Adamu & Luka, 2023). This research investigates the role of films in advocating for girl-child education in the local context of Dukku.
